I have been a HUGE fan of the Little House series by Laura Ingalls Wilder, since I was very young. My mom read aloud to my siblings and I every morning growing up and the Little House books were always my favorite. I think that is one of the reasons why living on a farm in Kansas sounded so natural to me. (more…)

Last night Cami Grace kept asking her daddy to fix her car. This was a good opportunity for Michael to indulge his love of reading manuals and for me to take some pics of all that we have done to improve the front yard (he honestly does).

The things that Cami Grace is obsessed with right now are tutus, princesses, and “Old McDonald Had a Farm”. This made it tough to decide what theme I was going to choose for her 2nd birthday, which we celebrated this weekend. I ended up combining them all to create a Farm Princess theme. (more…)

When we bought the farmhouse one of our favorite things about the place was that there was so much original wood. Often the older a home is, the more “quick fix” disasters there seem to be. If the current home owner is not willing or has no understanding of the homes historical value, serious damage to irreplaceable details will sadly be committed. (more…)

When we first moved to the farmhouse, I was concerned about how Cami Grace would react not only to her new surroundings, but also to the constant craziness of living in a renovation zone.
