After years of prayer, stacks of paperwork, and navigating worldwide chaos the day finally came when our precious daughter was placed in our arms. We will never discount the pain and trauma that Elliotte Pearl Sehaj has been through to get to Family Day. This day, March 15, 2021, was both heartbreaking and beautiful as this little princess joined our family forever. We didn’t know what to expect. Each child is unique, so every adoption is different. We tried to remember the training classes we took on how to walk a child through the grief and joy of having their lives turned upside down once again and finally getting the family they deserve. However, nothing could have prepared us for the overwhelming love that God poured over us all. In this moment, we gained another precious daughter and she gained something that was lost. Adoption is a front row seat to God’s abundant miracles. Even if she had reacted differently, we would have still called Family Day beautiful, because children belong in families and their souls are worth fighting for. We aren’t “saviors”. God alone is The Savior and He is the Redeemer of every story. We are just so grateful for the opportunity to be His hands and feet. We love because He first loved us. I John 4:19
We are posting this adoption video on the One Year Anniversary of Family Day. Watch parts 1-3 and then hop over to our Instagram account to see how Ellie Pearl has been doing. We are so blessed to be hers forever.
Just in case you haven’t seen the first two parts, watch the series from the beginning below.
Part 1: OCEANS APART
Part 2: NOT IN KANSAS ANYMORE
Sara and Michael, this us beautiful! Its just like watching a ‘birth story’. I had tears of joy in my eyes to see these special moments! I hope you can help others thinking of adoption (as this makes is real and homely and not scary), and for others to support those wanting to adopt. 😘
Thank you sweet friend for appreciating Ellie Pear’s family day story. It’s okay for parents to be scared, but it’s important to do what God calls us to do despite our fears. Faith is not something we have, it’s an action word.
I had missed one and two even though I’m subscribed. Problems with my email. I watched all three and even though you controlled yourself in the cab and didn’t want to be caught balling your eyes out, I did it for you. I am still sniffling. Probably the most beautiful documentary I’ve ever seen. I have been following your story with your youngest baby girl on Instagram and will continue to do so. God bless you all!!!
I definitely cried later when we got back to the hotel. It’s just just an incredibly blessing to get to be her mommy. Thanks for your support and encouragement.
