While the down stairs master suite is still gutted we needed the girls to share the nursery. That meant finding a creative way to fit two toddler-safe beds, a dresser, and armoire all in our 9×12 ft nursery. Today I want to share a video tutorial on how we solved our problems all while keeping the design period appropriate for our 1800s farmhouse.
… But first lets take a short trip down memory lane, so you can appreciate how far this little room has come:
Nursery Before {The Day We Bought the Farm}
Avonlee’s Nursery {Stage 1}
The Nursery Today {Room for 2}
We are really pleased with how these little beds turned out! I hope you enjoy watching this video tutorial and that it perhaps inspires you to do something similar in your home. Don’t let constraints rule your design. Let them fuel you’re creativity instead…

I watched your youtube video showing how you made the two beds out of one. Probably someone has shared this fact, but the reason the ends of the Jenny Lind bed were the same size, and the bed was so narrow, was because it was a “Hired Hand’s” bed. They were narrow and simple, and often are seen as daybeds when not in use, on porches these days. Always narrower than a single bed. Anyway, great use of them and the room is so sweet.
Greetings from your Canadian neighbour! I just recently found your blog and it really inspires me. Your decorating savy, your darling daughters and precious animals! I am a DIY and so admire what you have accomplished. I wish I lived closer I would offer free labour! as I have recently retired and love a good project!

Sincerest Regards

Hi Hilliary, thanks for the sweet offer and encouragement. I have a soft spot for Canadians, since my sweet roommate in college was from Toronto and I love Anne of Green Gables so much that I named my daughter Avonlea. So glad you appreciate my blog!
Thank you for sharing. Your home is beautiful. Your talent is amazing.
