The first thing that greets our guests at the farmhouse is this Scripture verse in our entry. The small table is a great landing place for keys and for corralling cast-off boots underneath. A simple fall vignette is an easy way to set the tone for visitors. A single pumpkin, dried flowers, and pine cones bring autumn flare without straying from my color palette.
Whether you use pumpkin cookies or an actual pumpkin, setting a harvest table should focus your attention on the One who has blessed us!
Picking weed-and-wildflower bouquets from around Bryarton Farm is one of me and my daughter’s favorite pastimes. Cami Grace is an expert at finding beauty in the most humble of weeds. Creating a fall tablescape with these finds is both economical and fun.
I dressed the mantel with this home-made burlap garland and a couple grocery store pumpkins. At the end of the season the chickens will feast on them! I feel that it’s kinda wasteful to spend much on fall decorations, because I don’t have the money or storage space for them. The great thing about using dried flowers, sticks, leaves, and pinecones from your yard or even the pumpkins is that as the seasons change you can guiltlessly through out your decor.
In the living room, a single white garden Mum adds a touch of fall to this old drawer-turned-end-table. A wall of thrift store plates and platters is a quirky way to give interest to a large wall (the leaf platter was a gift). The trick to making the plate wall work visually is for all the plates to have something in common. I made sure all of mine were blue, white, green, or black; or that they fell into the neutral china, tarnished metal, or aged patina category.
