After years of prayer, stacks of paperwork, and navigating worldwide chaos the day finally came when our precious daughter was placed in our arms. We will never discount the pain and trauma that Elliotte Pearl Sehaj has been through to get to Family Day. This day, March 15, 2021, was both heartbreaking and beautiful as this little princess joined our family forever. We didn’t know what to expect. (more…)
After two weeks apart, Michael and Sara Jo are finally reunited in New Delhi, India. They are overjoyed to be able to get custody of their daughter together, but the road from New Delhi to Ludhiana in Punjab is quite the adventure.
This is part 1 of a series of videos that we are making about the adoption of our daughter, Ellie Pearl. After being oceans apart from her for a year from the time we first saw her picture, we now find ourselves oceans apart from each other.
It’s hard to put into words how devastated we are. Days before we were supposed to board a plane to India, we got the news that Michael tested positive for Covid. After two and a half years of fighting to bring our daughter home, ten court dates, and countless setbacks it felt like a death. I fell to the ground and cried like never before. (more…)
I’m a bit rusty at blogging, so I took several days to think through how I want to share here again. I’ve grown accustomed to simply sharing one picture and a short thought daily on Instagram. I have no limits on my blog and I found walking back to that freedom a bit overwhelming. It should be empowering, but if we have done things the same way for years it can be intimidating to walk a different path. Today, as I was cleaning the farmhouse’s dining room I had a daydream that inspired me to write.
